Auditions

Where: 

Programs for Exceptional People at 39 Sheridan Park Circle, Suite 2

When:

January 11th, 2020 from  9am - 5pm. Audition slots are in periods of twenty minutes.

Please insure that you will be on time to your audition. Failure to arrive on time may result in your child being unable to audition. On time means that you are ready to begin the audition process at the moment you arrive. Paperwork can not be finished once your audition time has started.

*A tentative callback date is set for Wednesday, January 15th*

How:

Sign up by clicking the button below. Once brought to the form, enter your child's name and your main email for contact. (If there is no email, your child's name will be removed from the sign up sheet.) 

*If for any reason your child is unable to audition, please remove their name from the audition list. We usually have youth on the waiting list eager to fill your spot, so please give them a chance rather than not showing up to your scheduled audition.*

Cost:

The cost of the full spring program is $375 per child. There is a discount for multiple children ($338 for the 2nd and $300 for 3rd or more).  There is also a $25 registration fee per family that will last throughout every show in 2020. Lastly, there is a $25 costume rental fee per child. This will not be deposited unless costumes are not returned in good condition after the show. 

*If your child is unable to participate in the program and the cast list has been given out, there will be NO REFUNDS.*

What to Bring:

In order to audition, the following forms must be completed and brought to auditions: Registration Form, Size Chart, Photo Release Form, Availability, and Parent and Child Contracts. You must pay the registration fee and tuition at auditions as well as a separate check for the costume deposit. Please note that a $25 costume deposit is needed for every child auditioning. Failure to bring these items to auditions may result in your child being unable to audition. 

What to Prepare:

Each child must memorize a short monologue. This can be from Aladdin, but it is not necessary. They must also prepare a song to sing a capella, about a minute in length. We recommend that they sing a song from the show, but it is not required. However, be sure to choose a song that will best showcase your child's vocal range. 

Other Preparation:

Before coming to auditions, please read the BYT Handbook linked below. 

All families will be held accountable for all information in the handbook and must agree to all terms.

One parent/guardian from each family must sign up for the mandatory parent meetings using the link below. There are two date options for each. Choose one date for Parent Meeting #1 and one date for Parent Meeting #2. 

On January 6th, you will receive an email if you have neglected to sign up for the mandatory parent meetings.  If the parent/guardian is still not signed up by January 10th, their child's name will be removed from the audition sign up. 

*Failure to attend the first parent meeting will result in your child not being cast. Failure to attend the second parent meeting may result in your child being removed from the show.*

Preparation

Rehearsals

Times:

Fridays from 6pm - 8pm and Saturdays from 10am - 4pm.

Rehearsal times may vary depending on your child's part.

Rehearsals will start January 17th and end March 28th.

*The first rehearsal and all Saturday rehearsals in March are mandatory.*

Dress Rehearsals will begin at the theatre on March 30th at the theatre on Hilton Head.

Commitment:

Please look over the availability sheet before signing your child up for auditions. If your child is going to miss more than one weekend of rehearsals, please consider not signing them up. Being in a production is a big commitment and missing out on rehearsals can hinder the entire cast and crew.

March 30th - April 1st from 5:30pm - 8:30pm

Shows:

April 2nd at 7pm (Call time at 5pm)

April 3rd at 7pm (Call time at 5pm)

April 4th at 2pm (Call time at 12pm)

April 5th at 3pm (Call time at 1pm)

Commitment:

Cast and crew members must be available for ALL dress rehearsals and shows. Please do not sign your child up if there will be a conflict with one of these dates.

Important Dates

Bluffton Youth Theatre, since it's beginning in 2015, has worked hard to be more than just a theatre company.  At BYT, we focus on building each cast and crew member's skills as well as teach everyone to encourage and support one another.  Because we want each child to grow, we  give everyone who auditions a part in our musical that will challenge them.   

In addition, we endeavor to fulfill our main goal of being a totally inclusive theatre.   We believe that every child can shine in the performing arts regardless of their physical or mental challenges.
